Tropical Forest Forever Facility

Launched at the UNFCCC COP30 in Belém, Brazil, the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF) is an initiative designed to mobilize and sustain long-term financing for the conservation and expansion of tropical forests, which are among the world’s most critical ecosystems for biodiversity and climate stability. The TFFF initiative operates through a two-arm structure: a financial engine — the Tropical Forest Investment Fund (TFIF, a separate legal entity) — that pools capital from public and private contributors and invests it in a diversified fixed income portfolio to generate returns; and a disbursement arm — the TFFF FIF — that channels results-based payments to eligible tropical forest countries based on verified conservation performance, measured through remote sensing technologies. Countries that maintain deforestation rates below defined thresholds receive annual per-hectare payments, with at least 20 percent directed to Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
